Trendy Colours That Add A Personal Touch To The Space

Colour preference for your home is a personal choice there are NO set rules.  I was always fascinated by the choices my clients make, Some were an open book I could read the colour preferences in their personality then there were others who had completely surprising choices . Whatever their personalities said what everyone wanted was to convert their space to their sanctuary to make it their personal space. Today we hear the term ‘self care’ a lot.  It doesn’t only apply to your health and beauty it also extends to your surroundings. Making your living space your sanctuary is also a form of self care.

For everyone who wants to keep up with the trend each year the experts all over the world shed light on the colour trends for the year. Beginning of 2024 it seemed like it was going to be a bright & bold  2024. It was predicted by experts, people are going to be more bolder more outgoing & more adventurous with their lives so as in their colour choices . Dark Jungle Greens to Aqua Blues, Bright hot pinks , to rich lush Browns will lead the way . In 2025 Bright colour trends will continue with Browns and Pinks along with tones of new natural shades like Bambo browns to earthy greens.  Traditional Whites, Creams seems to be making its way out. In 2024 Pantone named peach fuzz as the colour of the year. Wonder what Pantone predictions would be for 2025 .

Colours affect our mood, such picking the right colour palette for each space in our home is important. It is predicted the colour choices people make have never been as personal as its going to be in year 2025.

  • Shades of Browns . The shades of dark browns are making its rounds this year and next. Chocolate

Brown , Coffee Brown to natural Bamboo Brown are building the trends. We could see interior designers already working with natural brown materials from rattan to soft woods. Brown incorporated with Reds, Jungle Greens, Pink, or nature inspired prints  would be an ideal mix and match.  You can incorporate brown to your space by painting a single wall  in the space or by adding furniture.  Especially if you are incorporating antique furniture. Brown would be an ideal option for the wall. Simply adds richness .

  • It’s a Blue Blue year – Blues always keep coming back every year in various shade . Next year experts state there will be a mix preference of  Sky blue , Light baby blue  to Aqua & Teal. However, Midnight blue, Royal blue would be least seen shades.  Lets look at how we can incorporate these colours to your home. Blues are an ideal pick for the kitchen or bathroom . For the bathroom it would be a no brainer for you can design with ease.    If you are thinking of taking a bold step, Lets go with the Blue kitchen cabinets, blending with elegant white/ ivory  marble counter tops. Shades of blue always gives a beachy feel to the space.   You can also look at using blue for the backsplash in the kitchen.  Ofcourse there are easier ways to include the colour blue to your kitchen.  Pick the rugs to glassware to plates, accessories  in shade of blue.

  • Bright & Bold Pink and Red – Neon pink to Bright pink to Pantone Peach Fuzz are all colours to work with this year. This summer my living room was transformed using the shades of Peach, Soft Pink, Neon Pink & Salmon Pink. If you visit our Instagram page you will come across few photos.

As per the design experts Candy Pink & Ruby Red are getting added to the 2025 list. In a country like Sri Lanka these bright colours don’t take center stage, its would be incorporated as accessories. These bright pop of colour blended into the space brings a touch of playfulness. Using these colours in your couch cushions or dinning table chairs , A single bright red accent chair that sits in the distant corner or a beautiful red light shade is just the right amount to a room.  We advice you to avoid making these the center colour but simply adding richness to space.
